Shrinkage - Why it is an Issue
TPlate shrinkage can create trouble in casting. Many casthouses using calcium silicate TPlates remove the mold after several casts to retighten the retaining ring to compensate for TPlate shrinkage. This takes time and disrupts the thimble joint. PermaPlate ceramic TPlates do not shrink.
Installation of PermaPlates
- Open the package
- Inspect critical surfaces for any damage
- Assure mold seating area is clean
- Set PermaPlate into the mold and check for proper fit
- Set TPlate Retaining Ring in place - hand tighten until firm
- Use suitable retaining ring wrench equipped with torque gauge - tighten to prescribed torque (do not over tighten)
